U21 Hurling Championship

Last Friday night Belville Gaels played Tour Kileedy in Feenagh in the final group B game in the U21 Championship. It was great to see competitive hurling again and those in attendance witnessed a very good game of hurling played by 2 very sporting and talented teams. The scoreline does not do the game justice as the big difference was the goals scored by Belville Gaels before and after half time. That being said the Belville Gaels forwards were far slicker and got their scores easier than Tour Killeedy. After 27 minutes the score was 7 points to 4 in Belville Gaels favour. 3 points came from Jack Kenny’s accurate free taking and a point each from Jack Roche, David Donovan, David Boyce and Dylan Murray O’Connor. Tour killeedy replied through Shane Hartnett, Jack Long and 2 from Cory Keogh. The game swung Belville’s way when Dylan Murray O’Connor got the end of a good passing move which started in midfield and he scored a great goal which left daylight between the 2 teams at half time. The 2nd half started with Colm Ryan and Cory Keogh exchanging points. From the 10th to the 15th minute in the second half Belville Gaels finished the game as a contest with 3 Jack Kenny points, one of which was an exceptional score from the far sideline, a great goal taken by Ciaran O’Sullivan and a point from Michael Cremin. Tour Kileedy could only manage a point during this spell which gave Belville a nice lead. The game finished with 2 points from David Boyce and a point each from Colm Ryan and Ciaran O’Sullivan and Shane Hartnett replying for Tour Kileedy. Our Goalie Patrick Murrihy and defence played very well with David O’Brien, Micheal Nolan and Ian Kelly who were outstanding.

The final scoreline was 2-16 to Belville Gaels 7 points to Tour Kileedy.
